SPECIAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING,

Officers present: Tempkins, Apana, Ballard, Clippard, Corcillo, Kerley. 15
members present (a quorum).
Meeting called to order at 10:33 AM.
Reports of Officers:
- Apana reported on membership rolls and bank balances
- Tempkins reported on phone calls to AFM President Lee, meeting with Durham
and FGO CEO Heuer, and gave a brief explanation of the lawsuit against FGO
over YouTube video postings.
Reports of Committees:
- Corcillo noted that the Theater committee is about to convene, and that
the committee has been contacted regarding the agenda for the meeting. Ballard
noted that negotiating committees are dissolved at the conclusion of
negotiations. Apana commented on ratification procedures, including various
methods to define the bargaining unit to determine eligibility for
ratification voting.
New Business:
- Motion made by Van Eck to propose amendments to the AFM Bylaws to provide
for members of traveling orchestras to pay work dues to the Local in whose
jurisdiction the performance lies, rather than the home Local;
- MMC (moved by Ballard) to amend to read "...traveling orchestras in
residence...";
- Motion made by Clippard to send resolution to committee (withdrawn);
- Motion made by Kerley to amend to read "...traveling orchestras in
residence more than three weeks.." (withdrawn);
- main motion approved unanimously.
- MMC (moved by Kerley) to bill Local 4 for work dues collected from the
Cleveland Orchestra/Miami City Ballet joint performance.
- Motion made by Corcillo to request that Local contractors hire Local 655
members first, and encourage nonmembers hired to join the Local;
- MMC (moved by Proctor) to adopt substitute amendment, "to remind Local
655 Contractors to hire Local 655 members first.
- Motion made by Turner to have the Local hold monthly networking events
similar to NARAS' Second Tuesdays;
- MMC (moved by Tempkins) to amend by striking monthly and inserting
quarterly;
- main motion adopted.
A Quorum was lost at 12:50 PM, at which time the meeting was adjourned.
