GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

REGULAR MEMBERSHIP MEETING, Monday, 12 September, 2005 at 11:00 am

Local 655 Offices, Hollywood FL

Meeting called to order at 11:16 am. 17 members present, including President Walker, Secretary-Treasurer Apana, and Directors Ballard, Chandler, Emery, Levin, Luger, and Warner.

MMC to approve minutes of August 13, 2005.

Secretary-Treasurer's Report: Apana reported on rolls and fund balances and a newly available health insurance plan.

President's Report: Walker reported on a Hurricane Relief concert being planned for September 25 at the American Airlines Arena.

Special Orders: Discussion of proposed amendments to the Bylaws. MMC (moved by Apana) to call the question. MMC (moved by Whitney) to divide the question. Motion to amend the Bylaws by deleting Article VII Section 2(a)3 fails. MMC to delete Article VII Section 2(a)6. MMC to amend Article VII Section 2(a)7 by striking "employ" and replacing with "appoint" and by striking "to assist in the duties of the President." MMC to adopt new section, Article VII Section 2(a)8, "Hold monthly orientations for new members." MMC to adopt new section, Article VII Section 2(d)16, "Supervise the affairs of the Local." MMC to amend Article VIII Section 1 by making the Secretary-Treasurer the first delegate and the Vice President the second delegate to conventions and conferences. MMC to amend Article VII Section 3(a)1 by striking "$10,000" and inserting "$2600." MMC to amend Article VII Section 3(c) by inserting "Vice President and" at the beginning of the section. Apana notes that changes to officer duties and salaries will take effect at the beginning of the next term of office.

Good and Welfare: Sigurdson thanks the Local for supporting members of the FPO during the bankruptcy proceedings and notes the formation of Orchestra Miami. Warner notes that he attended Recording Arts Day in Washington D.C. and that Federation officers were notably absent for most of the event. Potochnic and Walker announced that the AFM has formed the AFM Gulf Coast Relief Fund.
