Regular Executive Board Meeting Number 19-11, 25 November 2019, at Local 655 Office
Meeting called to order at 11:15 AM. Present: Reskin, van Eck, Apana, Corey, Fuller, Kleiman; Bravo, Folse absent.
MMC to approve minutes of October 29, 2019 meeting.
Secretary-Treasurer's Report: presentation of expense report,
membership rolls, bank balance data, and new members. Apana reported on
profit and loss and 2020 budget information; members to be expelled on
December 1. Aron arrived at 11:19 AM.
Apana reported on
communications regarding standardizing scales across Florida; regarding local organizing efforts.
VP
Report: van Eck reported that she will attend CORE teach-in and on organizing efforts.
President's Report: Reskin reported on conversations with K Banos re: Fiddler tour musicians.
Committee Reports: none.
Special Orders: MMC to schedule board meeting for December 30 at noon.
Unfinished Business: none.
New Business: MMC (moved by Apana) to create a dues amnesty program as follows:
Former members owing outstanding work dues who were last
members four or more years ago may rejoin the Local by paying a
reinstatement fee and current annual dues
Past due work dues will be held in abeyance for a period of one year following their reinstatement
Should the member pay all current annual dues and work dues in
a timely manner for a period of one year following their reinstatement,
payment of outstanding past due work dues and associated fines will be
waived
MMC (moved by Corey) to authorize American Income Life to provide
AD&D benefits to members at no cost to the Local (van Eck against).
Good and Welfare: Discussion of musicians working for less than
scale wages. Discussion of encouraging members to attend CORE teach-in.
Fuller departed at 12:33 PM.
Discussion of talking to musicians about the benefits of union membership.
