Regular Executive Board Meeting Number 18-4, 18 April 2018, at Local 655 Office
Meeting called to order at 12:09 PM. Present: Reskin, van Eck, Apana, Bravo, Corey, Dixon, Folse; Aron, Kleiman absent.
MMC to approve minutes of March 21, 2018 meeting and 11/15/17 membership meeting.
Secretary-Treasurer's Report: presentation of expense report,
membership rolls, bank balance data, and new members. Apana reported on
suspended members and correspondence from MPTF re allocations for
2018-19 fiscal year.
VP Report: van Eck reported on attendance at AFLCIO Organizing Institute.
President's Report: Reskin reported that pictures of our participation
at Working People's Day of Action appeared in International Musician.
Committee Reports: van Eck reported that a FaceBook group has been established for the Symphonic Committee.
Special Orders: MMC to schedule meeting for May 16, 2018 at 11:00 AM.
Unfinished Business: none
New Business: MMC (moved by Apana) to solicit membership for proposals
for band performance at SOCO, with solicitations to be reviewed and a
winner selected at the next Board meeting.
Good and Welfare: Discussion of musicians feeling disillusioned and the
need for more communication. Discussion of holding networking events;
MMC (moved by Apana) to appoint Folse, van Eck, Apana to Networking
Committee to investigate the possibility of holding networking events.
Dixon departed at 2:12 PM. Discussion of how committees function and
outreach to nonmembers.
