Regular Executive Board Meeting Number 07-8, 16 November 2007 at 10:00 am

Meeting called to order at 10:19 am. Present: Roitstein, Apana, Ballard, Glansdorp, Satterwhite; excused: Warner; absent: Emery, Parente.

MMC to approve minutes of October 2007 meeting.

Secretary-Treasurer's Report: presentation of activities log, expense report, membership rolls, bank balance data, and new members. Apana reported on communications from MPF, Blue Cross agent, AFM regarding symphonic workshop; on lack of response from IEB regarding Youth Member annual dues rate; on redesigning of symphonic, casual, and benefits booklets and corresponding sections of the website; on concerns regarding Local income and the 2008 budget. Chandler arrived at 10:24 AM.

President's Report: presentation of written report. Roitstein reported on possible event in coordination with MEISA to review applicants' CDs.

Symphonic Rep Report: presentation of written report. Apana and Ballard reported on issues with CRPC, Bocelli gig, and Miami Bach Society.

MPF Report: Chandler reported on changes in Fund allocations.

Special Orders: MMC to schedule next meeting for 12/21 at 10:00 AM. The Board conducted annual reviews of Business Reps and office staff. Glansdorp departed at 11:38 AM. Reviews continued.

Unfinished Business: none.

New Business: MMC (moved by Apana) to clarify that where the wage scales require mileage to be paid at the IRS rate, the rate is to be paid one-way. MMC (moved by Apana) to specify that the respective Business Reps shall conduct new member orientations now that the Bylaws have been amended to remove the obligation of the President to hold orientations. MMC (moved by Chandler) to designate engagements taking place in nursing homes as "Class B" for wage scale purposes. MMC (moved by Roitstein) to postpone for 6 months consideration of creation of a Musicians Relief Fund. MMC (moved by Roitstein) to sponsor MEISA event at MDC where a panel will critique submitted urban music CDs. MMC (moved by Apana) to allow 1/2 hour sound check for Bocelli gig provided that it is paid at the overtime rate and ends no later than 1 hour and 15 minutes before the commencement of the performance. MMC (moved by Apana) to establish the travel fee by public conveyance at $10 per hour of travel (or fraction thereof).
