Executive Board ResolutionsNEGOTIATING COMMITTEES (postponed until September 9, 2002)Whereas the Master Plan states that the Local will involve the rank-and-file in the operations of the Local, and Whereas the Master Plan states that we must select, train, and motivate future leaders, and Whereas the policy of the AFM and the Local is to have elected committees representing members of bargaining units, and Whereas the mission of the AFM includes providing meaningful paths for member involvement and developing highly trained and motivated leaders, be it Resolved All Local 655 negotiating teams shall consist of two Local Officers and a committee of rank-and-file members elected by the bargaining unit. MEETINGS OF STANDING COMMITTEES (Adopted 8/19/02)Whereas the Master Plan states that we must establish effective communications, and Whereas the mission of the AFM includes providing meaningful paths for member involvement, be it Resolved Standing Committees shall meet at least semiannually, except that the Scale and Bylaw Committees shall meet at least annually. REFERRAL PROGRAM (Adopted 8/19/02)Whereas the AFM has available Casual Club-Date Co-funding, and Whereas AFM Bylaws require Locals to actively participate in a Referral Program, and Whereas the Master Plan states that we must Appeal to nonmembers who could benefit from union via new services, be it Resolved The Casual Committee shall research new services for freelance musicians, such as a Musician Sourcebook, local radio showcases, seminars, and others, and The Casual Committee shall research more effective ways to implement the Referral Program, and The Casual Committee will report its findings to the Executive Board no later than the December 2002 meeting. “10-HOUR A YEAR” CAMPAIGN (Adopted 8/19/02)Whereas the Chicago Local 10-208 has implemented a “1% Solution” to encourage member involvement, and Whereas New York Local 802 has implemented an Activists Network to build a stronger and more effective union, and Whereas the strength of the Local is dependent on the active participation of its members, be it Resolved Member involvement shall include participation in job actions, volunteering on committees, attending meetings, and other union activities, and The PR, Recruitment, and Education Committees shall develop a Campaign to increase member involvement, and The PR Committee will develop a plan to publicize the campaign and recognize members who have volunteered a minimum number of hours, and The Committees shall report its recommendations to the Executive Board no later than the February 2002 meeting. |
