Congratulations to members Aaron Merritt, who was featured on the cover of the August International Musician. He served on the committee of the Colorado Music Festival as they just concluded negotiations for their first AFM contract.
The Labor Day edition of Michael Stock’s Folk and Acoustic Music program on WLRN featured President Hawley as guest. If you missed the program, we will post an update with the link once the program is available online.
Last month negotiations began with Broadway Across America. Musicians are represented by committee members Karen Fuller (also Local 655 VP), Orin Jacobs, and Dan Satterwhite, as well as Local 655 President Kendra Hawley and Secretary-Treasurer Jeffrey Apana. They are also being assisted by the new AFM Theater Contract Administrator Michael Epperhart.
Thanks to the quorum of members that attended our August membership meeting. In addition to the usual information updates, members had discussions about contracts, traveling for gigs, royalties, and were the first to learn about plans for a Local 655 podcast! Our next membership meeting will be on October 29.
The Local 655 website has had a facelift! We have moved the site to AFM-hosted servers, and it seemed time for an update. There may be some bugs involved in the move, so if you notice any broken links or non-functioning pages, please let us know!
