Membership Meeting Scheduled

Agenda: Election of Director and Amendments to the Bylaws (see below)
Election to fill vacant Director position for the remainder of the term (through December 2026)
All active members in good standing continuously for one year prior to nomination are eligible to run for office. In accordance with the Local 655 Bylaws, nominations will be taken from the floor, followed by a ballot vote. The newly elected officer shall be installed, and shall take office, immediately after the vote. If you are interested in being nominated you must be present or provide a written statement accepting the nomination prior to the meeting.
Amendments to the Bylaws
Whereas the Executive Board no longer meets physically each month, and
Whereas Local officers often live geographically distant from one another, and
Whereas, a requirement of two signatures on checks restricts the use of electronic payments, and
Whereas checks and balances on financial expenditures are still necessary and encouraged by federal labor law, be it
resolved that the Bylaws be amended as follows:
Article VII Officers
Section 2. (c) The Secretary Treasurer shall:
NEW Be authorized to manage expenses within the parameters of the overall approved budget.
NEW Prepare, and the Executive Board shall audit, on a monthly basis, a list of all payments made, including payee and purpose.
Section 2. (g) The President and the Secretary-Treasurer shall be the signatories to the Local’s financial accounts.The two signatures shall be required on the Local’s checks and all other disbursements of Local funds.
Originally proposed by the Executive Board, with substitute proposed by the Bylaw Committee. The Bylaw Committee recommends adoption.
