That Union Thing

Amazon drivers in Illinois went on strike to protest violations of labor laws. The drivers, who have organized with the Teamsters, presented cards from a majority of employees demanding union recognition. Shortly thereafter, Amazon terminated its contract with Four Star Express, which is the third party contractor that the drivers directly work for. Amazon has full control of the drivers despite their working for a third party, and the drivers claim that the contract termination was retaliation for their demand for union recognition, which is protected under labor law.

Six Syracuse City Ballet dancers have been reinstated with back pay and an apology after the National Labor Relations Board found that the Ballet violated the dancers’ rights. The dancers were fired after going on strike to protest unsafe working conditions.
